Erasmus+ Experience: Bridging Borders Youth Exchange – Alicante, Spain

The Bridging Borders project seeks to foster intercomprehension and intercultural dialogue among young people across Europe, using the continent’s linguistic and cultural diversity as a foundation. The project aims to create a platform for young participants to engage in mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration, thereby strengthening social cohesion and promoting active European citizenship.
We are thrilled to share that the Romanian team, representing the Association Sellification4EDUcation, successfully participated in the Erasmus+ KA152-YOU-4919AD9E Youth Exchange – Bridging Borders, hosted by Aranea Association in beautiful Alicante!
This multicultural experience brought together young people from Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Italy, and Spain to explore the theme of intercultural dialogue and intercomprehension, using Europe’s linguistic and cultural diversity as a bridge for better understanding.
Our Romanian team engaged in non-formal learning activities such as:
- Icebreakers & energizers to foster group cohesion
- Workshops on active listening, miscommunication, and universal language
- Interactive games in the city center of Alicante
- National evenings where we shared Romanian food, dances, and culture
- Presenting our own workshop on "Misunderstandings in Intercultural Communication", where we addressed the power of first impressions, body language, and cultural assumptions.
Participants reflected on how misunderstandings can impact trust and reputation, and learned strategies to build empathy, clarity, and intercultural sensitivity.
As part of the final evaluation, each participant created a personal action plan and received their Youthpass certificate.
